About UBIK

Data center engineering consultancy.

Advisory & Feasibility, Design & Engineering, Project & Delivery Management, Commissioning Management, Certification Management and Operations Consultancy, appointed together or for a single stage.

UBIK is a privately held data center engineering consultancy based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The firm works for owners, developers, operators, investors and contractors across the Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe.

Before capital is committed, UBIK assesses feasibility: site, capacity, resilience level, utility and water strategy, phasing and investment envelope. It designs coordinated MEP systems for power, cooling, controls, fire and telecoms, including prefabricated and modular facilities and liquid-cooled halls. From procurement to handover it provides technical control of delivery and governs commissioning and acceptance. It manages Uptime Institute Tier and LEED certification on the client’s behalf, and advises on operational readiness: operating procedures, maintenance strategy and staffing. Clients engage the firm for the whole lifecycle or for a single stage.

UBIK is independent and acts only in its clients’ interests. Its principals are an electrical engineer and programme executive with more than twenty years in critical infrastructure, and an architect and data center designer with more than thirty years in data centers. The firm’s references are current UBIK work in Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and West Africa, and the record its principals built in earlier roles. Founded in 2019, UBIK has grown every year since.

02/Engagement model

How UBIK works

  1. 01

    A principal on every engagement

The principal on an engagement writes the brief, leads the reviews and signs each deliverable. Clients deal with the people whose names are on the proposal, from the first meeting to the handover record.

  2. 02

    Specialists matched to the facility

Power, cooling, controls, fire, telecoms, commissioning and certification specialists are brought in for the systems a facility actually has, and briefed against its design basis rather than a generic scope.

  3. 03

    A record at each stage

Each stage of an engagement closes with a written deliverable: a report with ranked findings, a design package with its register of decisions, a witnessed test record or a readiness assessment. The client keeps the record, and the next stage starts from it.

  4. 04

    Regional design conditions

Design conditions in a UBIK brief come from the site’s climate file and the utility’s written position. Procurement lead times and permitting requirements are confirmed for the country of each project, in the Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe.

Certification and evidence pathways

  • Uptime Institute

Tier Certification of Design Documents, of Constructed Facility and of Operational Sustainability: UBIK manages the gap analysis, the evidence and the demonstration planning. Uptime Institute assesses and awards.

  • LEED

LEED certification for data center projects: the credit strategy, the documentation and the energy and water evidence, coordinated with the engineering design. The certifying body assesses and awards.

Next step

UBIK takes enquiries at any stage of a project.

An outline of the stage, the location and the question is enough to start. Confidential projects can be discussed without client or site details.
